Lay Creek Ranch boasts over 2 miles of Lay Creek, highway frontage and power availability that runs the length of the ranch. With 2140 +/- deeded acres this ranch would make a great spring, summer and fall grazing operation.
Land
The land consists of sub irrigated bottoms along Lay Creek which rises into cedar draws along the way. The benches have been cleared in recent years to increase the grass for livestock and wildlife. With plenty of cover from the cedar covered draws and ridges this is excellent habitat for deer, elk, and antelope. Lay Creek is a small, yet dependable year-round stream that feeds the Yampa River below.
Recreation
The ranch borders thousands of acres of public BLM lands for additional exploration. The Juniper Hot Springs is just a few miles away along with the Yampa River. There are several nearby public access points to the Yampa River for fishing and rafting. The Sand Wash Basin, Browns park, Steamboat Springs and many other recreational attractions are within a short drive from the ranch. Located in unit 3 which coincides with Unit 301, the ranch qualifies for landowner vouchers for deer and antelope while elk tags are over the counter for archery season, as well as 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons.
Location
The Ranch is located just west of Craig, Colorado and just east of Maybell, Colorado bordering Highway 40 to the north. The Yampa River is less than 2 miles to the west and less than 1 mile to the south. The Yampa Valley regional airport is within 45 minutes from the ranch and Vernal, Utah is within 1 and 1/2 hours.
