Michigan's Upper Peninsula - Wooded 240-Acre Recreational Parcel For Sale. This property is located in Onota Township which lies along the southern shore of Lake Superior. Because of its vast forests, Onota Township has a rich history in producing lumber for buildings and charcoal manufacturing (for smelting iron ore). Such activities include the Lakenenland Sculpture Park, Eben Ice Caves Trailhead, Kitch-iti-kipi (Michigan's largest natural spring), Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Bordering the Eastern edge of the property is the Jim Wells Forest, a 440-Acre tract that is managed by Michigan State University. From M-94, which runs a few miles south of the property, is access to the 1,728 Acre Laughing Whitefish Lake Preserve. It is located between the Laughing Whitefish Falls Scenic Area and the Hiawatha National Forest. Laughing Whitefish Falls is one of the most spectacular falls in Michigan. The 100-Foot Falls cascades through a long escarpment/gorge with old growth white pine and hemlock towering over it. These areas are great for hiking, snowshoeing, outdoor education, birding, and wildlife viewing.
