Almost 1700 acres of the property are protected under permanent conservation easement with the Piedmont Land Conservancy, the remaining uneased 850 acres includes 5 modest houses, currently used as hunting lodges, and multiple tracts adjoining rural NC Hwy 770. The sustainable forestry operation, which maintains Forest Stewardship Council FSC certification, was selected in 2017 as a field trip location for the World Wildlife Fund's Global Forest and Trade Network's annual meeting and generates approximately per year. Their strategy of harvesting the worst first over the past ten years has created an exquisite stand of forests and a variety of wildlife habitat. Many oaks, hickories, cherries and persimmon trees have been reserved from harvest to promote wildlife.
