Las Avispas Ranch is 3,264+/- acres of incredible Oak covered hiils, spectacular canyons and beautiful meadows in the Avispas Mountains southwest of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Black Walnut, Live Oak, Juniper and Mesquite thrive at this diverse ranch at 4,000 to 5,500 feet elevation. The ranch consistently receives approximately 22 inches of rain annually. Several seasonal creeks and a large waterfall flow much of the year. There is a beautiful, well built 2,200 square foot, 4 bedroom and 2 and a half bath masonry ranch style home with a large comfortable porch on all sides. There is also a 1,200 square foot Foreman's house, a solid 2,400 square foot masonry barn, a large ramada and an old historic rock house. The entire property is very efficiently solar powered. The ranch currently holds 160 cows and 10 bulls. It has four large pastures and four pastures planted with Maravilla grass for superb grazing. There is a hand dug well and an excellent 260 foot solar well that provides water to the houses, several drinkers, storage tanks and a cistern. There is also a large reservoir. There is a great set of pens, a squeeze chute and scale.
The birding opportunities are fantastic at the ranch. Species include the Elegant Trogan, Yellow Billed Cuckoo, Rose-throated Becard, Black Hawk, Grey Hawks, Mearns Quail and too many others to list. Wildlife is very abundant and includes Coues Whitetail, Javelina, Foxes, Turkey, Coatamundi, Black Bear, Bobcats and Mountain Lion. The ranch is gated and very private and has excellent, easy access. Numerous other building sites can found in every direction if desired. The ranch is perfect for a family or corporate retreat, hunting or horse camp, a small cattle ranch or just a quick get-a-way from busy city living.
